Holi - the festival of colours will be celebrated all over on 5th and 6th march 2015 this year. Holika was the name of father's sister of 'Bhakt Prahlad'. Prahlad was a great devotee of lord vishnu. Because of jealous nature, holika decided to burn herself with prahlad. Because of faith in lord vishnu, holika burned totally but Prahlad was totally escaped. Thats why bunch of dry tree surrounds a long wooden shaft. That shaft plays role of Prahlad and dry trees plays role of Holika. Holika Dahan will be on 5th march. In the evening time, in the presence of all ages peoples.
The next day of Holika Dahan known as 'Dhulendi' in north india and it will be celebrated on 6th march 2015. People will colour each other with 'Gulal' and other colours. It shows the brotherhood in society. Many people creates hurble colours at home by using the flowers of the 'DHAK', these flowers also called 'Kesuliya'.
